Install Power Steering Pressure and/or Return Hose Assembly

Subject : Steering Vibration/Shudder/Moan During Parking Maneuvers on Dry Pavement (Install power steering pressure (Inlet) and/or Return (Outlet) Hose Assembly)
Models : 1995-99 Buick Riviera, 1997-2001 Buick Park Avenue, 1997-2001 Buick Ultra, 2000-2001 Buick LeSabre, 2000-2001 Pontiac Bonneville

Install a new power steering pressure (inlet) hose assembly on 1995-1998 Buick Riviera, 1997-1998 Buick Park Avenue and Ultra.
Install a new power steering pressure (inlet) and return (outlet) hose assembly on 1999 Buick Riviera, 1999-2001 Buick Park Avenue and Ultra, 2000-2001 Buick LeSabre, 2000-2001 Pontiac Bonneville.

Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) Hose Replacement Procedure

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.power steering pressure
2. Drain the ability steering fluid.
3. Remove the ability steering gear assembly warmth shield.
4. Disconnect the facility steering stress hose from the facility steering pump assembly. Take away the bolt/screws from the retaining clips.
5. Disconnect the ability steering strain hose from the ability steering gear assembly. Take away the power steering stress hose meeting from the vehicle.
6. Set up the ability steering pressure hose assembly to the vehicle. Join the power steering strain hose to the facility steering pump assembly.
7. Connect the facility steering stress hose to the power steering gear assembly.Tighten the ability steering pressure hose to the steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
8. Install the bolt/screws to the retaining clips (three). Tighten Tighten the retaining clip bolt/screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in). Set up the facility steering gear meeting heat protect (1).
9. Decrease the vehicle. Fill and bleed the ability steering system utilizing, J 43485.

Power Steering Pressure (Inlet) and Return (Outlet) Hose Replacement Procedure

1. Raise and suitably help the vehicle. power steering pressure
2. Drain the ability steering fluid.
3. Remove the LH front wheel/tire assembly.
4. Remove the LH decrease splash shield. Take away the decrease radiator air deflector (engine splash protect, if installed.)
5. Remove the ability steering gear meeting warmth shield. Disconnect the ability steering pressure hose and the return hose from the facility steering pump assembly. Remove the bolt/screws from the retaining clips.
6. Disconnect the ability steering stress hose and the return hose from the ability steering gear assembly.
7. Take away the facility steering pressure and return hose assemblies from the vehicle.
8. Drill two 6 mm (¼ in) holes into the highest surface of the LH engine frame crossmember. Both holes are to be roughly 35 mm (1.5 in) rearward from the front and rear control arm brackets horizontal flange edge.
9. Take away the 2 rosebud clips from the brand new hose assembly. Install the 2 rosebud clips into the holes drilled.
10. Install the new LH routed energy steering return/outlet hose assembly.
11. Install the ability steering pressure/inlet hose assembly to the vehicle.
12. Connect the facility steering stress and return hoses to the power steering pump assembly.
13. Join the facility steering strain and return hoses to the ability steering gear assembly. Tighten the power steering pressure and return hoses to the steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
14. Set up the bolt/screws to the retaining clips. Tighten the retaining clip bolt/screws to six N·m (fifty three lb in).
15. Set up the ability steering gear assembly heat shield. Set up the decrease radiator air deflector (engine splash shield).
16. Set up the LH lower splash shield. Install the LH entrance wheel/tire assembly.
17. Decrease the vehicle. Fill and bleed the facility steering system, using J 43485.
